PROTECTING YOUR PRIVACY

Based on Article 13 of the Swiss Federal Constitution and the data protection regulations of the Swiss Federal Government (Federal Act on Data Protection, FADP), every person is entitled to the protection of their privacy and to protection against misuse of their personal data. We comply with these regulations. Personal data is kept strictly confidential and is not sold or passed on to third parties.

In close cooperation with our hosting providers, we endeavour to protect the databases to the best of our ability against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, tampering and manipulation.

SSL ENCRYPTION

To protect the security of your data during transmission, we use state-of-the-art encryption (SSL) technology over an HTTPS connection.

  • Browser type/version
  • Operating system used

  • Contact data (e.g. email address, telephone number)
  • Content data (e.g. text input, photographs, videos)
  • Usage data (e.g. websites visited, interest in specific content, access times)

  • To respond to contact requests/enquiries and to communicate with users
  • For security measures

ESTABLISHING CONTACT

When establishing contact with us (e.g. over our contact form, by email, telephone or social media), the information the user provides is processed for the purpose of processing and handling the contact request. The information the user provides us with may be stored in a customer relationship management system (“CRM system”) or comparable enquiry organisation system in order to be able to process any possible follow-up questions more efficiently.

We delete requests and enquiries as soon as they are no longer required. We check this requirement every two years. Moreover, the statutory retention provisions apply.

COOKIES

Cookies are small text files that your browser saves when you call up a website. For example, cookies serve to stop you having to repeatedly sign in when revisiting a website or web application. Cookies are also used by web analytics services such as Google Analytics to tag visitors.

You can reject the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser. If you disable cookies, it means that it may limit your ability to use all the features of this website in full.

COLLECTING ACCESS DATA AND LOG FILES

Based on our legitimate interests in terms of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, we, or our hosting provider, collect data every time the server on which this service is located is accessed (server log files). This access data includes the name of the website called up, the file accessed, the date and time of the hit, the volume of data transferred, notification of a successful hit, the browser type and version, the user’s operating system, the referring URL (previously visited website page), the IP address and the querying provider.

Log file data is stored for security reasons (e.g. to investigate abusive or fraudulent activities) for a maximum of 7 days and then deleted. Data that needs to be retained for purposes of evidence is exempted from deletion until the incident is finally clarified.

NEWSLETTER

This website uses the services of MailChimp (http://www.mailschimp.com) for sending out newsletters.

You can view the privacy policy of MailChimip here: http://www.mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/.

We use MailChimp based on our legitimate interests according to Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR and an order processing agreement according to Art. 28 (3) (1) GDPR. MailChimp is allowed to use the recipient’s data in a pseudonymous form, i.e. without assignment to the user, to optimise or improve their own services, e.g. for the technical optimisation of their own mailing service, to display the newsletter or for statistical purposes. However, neither does MailChimp use the data from our newsletter recipients for their own mailing activities, nor do they pass the data on to third parties.

If you do not want MailChimp to perform analyses, you should unsubscribe from the newsletter. We put a link in every newsletter message to allow you to do so.

GOOGLE ANALYTICS

Based on our legitimate interests (i.e. interest in the analysis, optimisation and commercial operation of our online services in terms of Sec. 6 (1) (f) GDPR), we use Google Analytics, a web analytics service from Google LLC (“Google”). Google uses cookies. The information the cookie generates about the users’ use of our online services is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement, which provides a guarantee of compliance with European data protection law (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active). Google uses this information on our behalf to evaluate how users use our online services in order to compile reports on website activities within these online services, so as to provide us with further services related to the use of these online services and Internet usage. In doing so, pseudonymous usage profiles for users may be created from the processed data. We only use Google Analytics with activated IP anonymisation. This means that Google truncates the user’s IP address if it is located within the member states of the European Union or other parties to the agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the US and truncated there. The IP address transmitted by your browser is not merged with other data from Google.

Users can reject the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser; by downloading and installing the browser plugin available from the link below, the user can also prevent the data the cookie generates on how they use our online services (incl. your IP address) from being transmitted to Google and Google processing this data: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en. For more information on how Google uses date and the options for making settings and objecting, please refer to the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads) and to the settings for displaying advertisements by Google (https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated). The user’s personal data is deleted or anonymised after 26 months

Online presence on social media

We maintain an online presence on social networks and platforms in order to communicate with customers, prospective customers, interested parties and users who are active there and to inform them about our services. When accessing these networks and platforms, the terms and conditions and data processing policies of the respective operators apply.

Unless otherwise stated in our Privacy Policy, we process users’ data when they communicate with us from within social networks and platforms, e.g. write posts on our online presences or send us messages.

Inclusion of services and content from third parties

Based on our legitimate interests (i.e. interest in the analysis, optimisation and commercial operation of our online services in terms of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR), we make use of content or services offered by third-party providers to include their content and services, such as videos or fonts (collectively referred to as “content”). This always presupposes that the third-party providers of this content detect the IP addresses of users, since they would not be able to send their content to users’ browsers without the IP address. This means that the IP address is needed to display this content. We make every attempt to use the type of content where the supplier only uses the IP address to deliver the content. Third parties may also use what are referred to as pixel tags (invisible graphics, also referred to as “web beacons”) for statistical or marketing purposes. These pixel tags can be used to analyse information, such as visitor traffic on the pages of this website. The pseudonymous information may also be stored in cookies on the user’s device and may include, but not be limited to, technical information about the browser and operating system, referring web pages, time of the visit and other information regarding the use of our online services.

GOOGLE MAPS

This website uses Google Maps API for the visual display of geographical information. When using Google Maps, Google also collects, processes and uses data about how visitors use the map functions. For more information about data processing by Google, please refer to the Google Data Privacy Statement. You can also change your personal privacy settings in the privacy centre there.

GOOGLE WEBFONTS

In order to render our content correctly and in a graphically appealing manner across browsers, we use script libraries and font libraries on this website, such as Google web fonts (https://www.google.com/webfonts/). Google web fonts are transferred to the cache in your browser to prevent them from being loaded multiple times. If your browser does not support Google web fonts or prohibits access to them, content will be displayed in a standard font.

Calling up script libraries or font libraries automatically establishes a connection to the library operator. It is theoretically possible for the operators of such libraries to collect data. Currently, however, it also unclear as to whether they do, and if they do, then for what purposes.

FACEBOOK PIXEL, CUSTOM AUDIENCES AND FACEBOOK CONVERSION

Owing to our legitimate interests in the analysis, optimisation and commercial operation of our online services and for these purposes, our online services use what is referred to as the “Facebook pixel” from the social network Facebook, from Facebook Inc., 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA, or Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbor, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”) if you are located in the EU.

Facebook is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement, which provides a guarantee of compliance with European data protection law (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt0000000GnywAAC&status=Active).

The Facebook pixel primarily helps Facebook to identify visitors to our online services as a target audience for displaying advertisements (what are referred to as “Facebook ads”). Correspondingly, we use the Facebook pixel to only display the Facebook ads that we have been sent to those Facebook users who have shown an interest in our online services or certain features (e.g. interest in certain topics or products that are determined by their visits to websites), which we then transmit to Facebook (what are referred to as “custom audiences”). The Facebook pixel also helps us to make sure that our Facebook ads match the potential interests of our users and do not annoy them. The Facebook pixel also helps us to understand the effectiveness of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes, which allows us to see if users were redirected to our website after clicking on a Facebook ad (what is referred to as “conversion”).

Facebook processes data in compliance with the Facebook Data Usage Policy. Accordingly, the data usage policy from Facebook contains general information on the display of Facebook ads: https://www.facebook.com/policy.php. Specific information and details about the Facebook pixel and how it functions can be found in the Help section from Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/651294705016616.

You can object to the Facebook pixel capturing your data and using it to display Facebook ads. To set which types of ads you see on Facebook, you can go to the page that Facebook has set-up and follow the instructions on making usage-based advertising settings: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads. The settings are platform-independent, which means that they are adopted on all devices, whether desktop computers or mobile devices.

You can also opt-out of cookies being used that serve to measure reach and for promotional purposes by going to the opt-out page of the Network Advertising Initiative (http://optout.networkadvertising.org/), the US-American website (http://www.aboutads.info/choices) or the European website (http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/).
